Does anyone know how or if i can back up my system toCD discs? The back

I use a removable IDE harddisk, and xp does backup
to that just fine.

make bootable recovery CDs/DVDs.

CD's do NOT hold enough data to back up your system harddrive. You would
need LOTS of CD's... CD's hold MB's of data; your harddrive holds GB's of
data.
