I'm hooking up the front panel connectors. My Gigabyte instructions
don't specify which color wire is positive. The connectors have an
arrow on one side, is that the positive? These are the reset switch,
hard drive light, power light, etc.

Thanks,

Joel

Reset switch and power switch are not polarized. You can plug them
either way, as rotating the two pins won't matter.

The LEDs are polarized. They will only work one way. They may have
one black wire, and the black wire would be the minus. LEDs are
reversal safe. Since the PIV (peak inverse volts) rating of the LED
is typically 5 volts, they can be installed the wrong way with no
damage. So if the LED does not light, simply reverse it and try
again.

I checked Google, and you have a DS3. I happen to already have the
manual downloaded. The F_PANEL diagram in the manual, has (+) and
(-) on the signal names, to indicate which is positive and which
is negative. Your LED black wire should go to the signal name with
the (-) on it.

The only "standard" I've seen that seems to be consistent
is that one of the wires to each of the connectors will have
the same color. For example there will be a green wire to
each connector. The wires that have the same color are
negative. The other wires, which can be of various colors,
are positive. It can be very confusing. I've seen negative
in just about every color, including red!
