Why worry about it? Make sure yours is secured. If your neighbours are too
stupid to sort it out for themselves, more fool them.
Unless you can make yourself a bit of money showing them how to secure their
networks of course Wink

Only if you want to get involved in fixing their unsecured wireless
network, and wearing the consequences when something else breaks
and they decide it must have been what you did to their system.

You can sometimes work out out by carrying a wireless laptop around
and seeing where you get the network and where it drops out etc.

So? Same situation as everyone else in any suburban, let
alone urban area.

If you're extra good friends with them, you could mention
their security issue, but if you're not confident in the
trust level then don't say a word.

If you had a directional antenna and signal strength meter
it would be fairly easy, but it's not worth the bother to go
around hunting for it. If they aren't any more concerned
about security than this, they'll probably get hit by a
browser exploit long before some hacker cares about
accessing their resources locally over the wifi.

I disagree with Mr. Kony. You need a tight directional antenna sized for
the specific frequencies you are using (not multi-band). Just aim the
antenna at the node tower(s) and signal-to-noise will improve while your
neighbors are squeezed out of your sig.

There's nothing to disagree with, you have misunderstood the
topic. The problem was not rejecting the neighbor's
signals, it was a curiousity, concern, etc, that the
neighbors didn't have what appeared to be secure wifi
networks.

FWIW, I have no idea what you are thinking, most people are
not trying to use a multiband antenna at all (except in the
case of 5GHz for 802.11a in conjunction with b/g), since
anything wireless comes with it's own integral or removable
tuned antenna for the correct frequency.
