need a wirless connection for one PC to My router

I am a teacher at a school in Phoenix and have several PC's linked to the
internet via a router (link sys)
all are linked by wire but I have one Class in a seperate building.
I looked into the D-Link "DWL-900 AP" I think if I hook one of those to the
router and one to the ethernet card in the PC, I can bridge the Basketball
court safely with no wires.
Please tell me this is true or tell me another way to accomplish this.

Without checking the specifics of the D-Link model you listed, I assume it
is an "access point." These generally function as a stand alone unit with
their own IP address, hooked into your network switch or hub. If your
network is using 192.198.X.X addresses, then the access point will need an
address in that series.

Another question is one of distance. Most 802.11b wireless devices have an
outdoors distance of 1000 to 1200 feet. If there are walls or other
line-of-sight obstructions, the effective distance between the PC and access
point will be less.

Finally, with wireless, you have the issue of network security. You might
want to read up on wireless security issues and adopt appropriate steps as
