Archived from groups: alt>comp>periphs>mainboard>asus (more info?)

My old P4B533 died and I bought a P4P800 SE, so that I may use the CPU (1.6
P4) running at 2.1mhz and a mix of PC2100 and 2700 memory (1gb). Running
fine, but a little show when editing movies.
Was thinking of replacing the memory with DDR PC3200 and getting a P4-3.0
CPU.
I am on trailing edge of technology, lot cheaper. Do not play games, just
surf and edit movies.

Thanks
Gary

I upgraded from a 2.4 533fsb to a 3.2 800 fsb and 512 ram to 2 gig and the
machine was much faster
for editing movies. Not much improvement on programs like word etc...
I also upgrade my video card to a 6600gt which I think really helped the
speed for editing.
Oh yea and I went to a sata drive from the ide's I had.
BTW I am using the same board and the ram is setup for dual channel.
4 sticks of matched corsair memory 3200.
