Dear Posters

I am have problems with my keyboard. It is a Fujitsu laptop and all the keys
are typing a different letter. How do I restore factory defaults so the keys
will type the characters they are supposed too. To write a letter, I have to
open an existing .doc, find each character I need, copy it to clip board,
then past it into the text string for the message I am trying to write since
my keyboard keys have been remapped by some virus off the web. Do I reload
the driver, or restore factory defaults, rebuild the registry? And how?
Where do I find the procedures for each of these and where do I start? This
is extremely tedious to try to write anything now.

Thanks in advance, Marina

I did a system restore. That seemed to work out well. It's all fixed now.

Hi Marina,

You have posted an article on Sun Jan 02, 2005 at 5:35 pm regarding a
problem with your keyboard. I have a Sony laptop. Yesterday K/B was
working fine, but today a selection of keys is remapped.

Two hours later you have replied that the problem was fixed after
you have restotred your laptop.

My quuestions are:

- Do you know if it was really a virus, or some other software failure?
- Did the restore operation wipe out the applications you had installed
and / or the contents of your C: or other drives?
- Did you use the resore disks provided by the Fujitsu?
- What options did you select for to restore the keyboard settings?

To anyone out there:

- How safe is it to restore an XP Windows?
- Is it the only way to fix it?
- Is it a known virus?

Many thanks for your help.

Regards,
Agnieszka Rees
